About Shay
Does the statement “you can’t pour from an empty cup” resonate with you? Does it describe how you’ve been feeling lately? Life stressors and challenges may make it hard to turn the focus on caring for yourself. Directing the focus to caring for your mental health can be difficult if you don’t yet know how to or when other things seem more important. Let’s take the steps together to recenter and refuel so that you can fill your cup. Through our time together, we will unpack challenges and create strategies to help you moving forward.
My lived experiences as a black woman, an immigrant, and a person with a physical disability provide me with a unique perspective. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in HR. Through my intersectionalities, I appreciate the different factors that colour the way each person experiences challenges and their impact on how they show up personally and professionally. I work with individuals dealing with anxiety, workplace stressors, multicultural issues, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I offer both in person and virtual psychotherapy services. I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a post graduate certificate in human resources management.
During our time together, I will draw from different modalities such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy along with Trauma Informed approaches.
